چکیده
Abstract Background The 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) has been adopted as an important component of preparticipation cardiovascular screening. However, there are still controversies in the screening and few studies with a large sample size have reported results ECGs marathon runners. Therefore, purpose this study was to assess prevalence normal, borderline, abnormal ECG changes Methods data 13,079 amateur runners between ages 18 35 years were included for analysis. abnormalities among different gender groups compared chi-square tests. Results In terms training-related changes, sinus bradycardia, arrhythmia, left ventricular high voltage found approximately 15, 5, 3.28% participants, respectively. incidence right axis deviation 1.78%, which slightly higher than (0.88%). No more 0.1% exhibited ST-segment depression, T wave inversion (TWI), premature contraction, pathologic Q waves, prolonged QT interval. Conclusions Training-related including voltage, common Most TWI, interval, infrequently also suggested Chinese may relatively lower black white

Impact of different running distances on muscle and lymphocyte DNA damage in amateur marathon runners.
[Purpose] The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of different marathon running distances (10 km, 21 km, and 42.195 km) on muscle and lymphocyte DNA damage in amateur marathon runners. [Subjects and Methods] Thirty male amateur runners were randomly assigned to 10 km, 21 km, and 42 km groups, with 10 subjects in each group. Blood samples were collected before and after the races and...
متن کاملCardiac and renal function in a large cohort of amateur marathon runners
BACKGROUND Participation of amateur runners in endurance races continues to increase. Previous studies of marathon runners have raised concerns about exercise-induced myocardial and renal dysfunction and damage. In our pooled analysis, we aimed to characterize changes of cardiac and renal function after marathon running in a large cohort of mostly elderly amateur marathon runners. METHODS A t...
متن کاملOn site assessment of cardiac function and neural regulation in amateur half marathon runners
OBJECTIVE Strenuous exercise variably modifies cardiovascular function. Only few data are available on intermediate levels of effort. We therefore planned a study in order to address the hypothesis that a half marathon distance would result in transient changes of cardiac mechanics, neural regulation and biochemical profile suggestive of a complex, integrated adaptation. METHODS We enrolled 3...
متن کاملReduction in Post-Marathon Peak Oxygen Consumption: Sign of Cardiac Fatigue in Amateur Runners?
BACKGROUND Prolonged aerobic exercise, such as running a marathon, produces supraphysiological stress that can affect the athlete's homeostasis. Some degree of transient myocardial dysfunction ("cardiac fatigue") can be observed for several days after the race. OBJECTIVE To verify if there are changes in the cardiopulmonary capacity, and cardiac inotropy and lusitropy in amateur marathoners a...
متن کاملSelf-Medication Practice among Amateur Runners: Prevalence and Associated Factors.
The term “self-medication” involves consumption, without any physician’s advice, of over-the-counter drugs but also of formerly prescribed drugs. Amateur athletes could resort frequently to self-medication for different reasons. Indeed, they may use self-medication products because they are regularly exposed to pain, tiredness, injuries and difficulties with recovery. Sometimes, they can also d...
